Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare. However, there is a significant lack of understanding among medical practitioners on AI. Therefore, it is of interest to evaluate the knowledge, awareness, experience and perceptions regarding AI among 250 medical students, doctors and members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The questionnaire based survey revealed that though the participants were well aware of the general AI concepts, not even half felt that it would be helpful for diagnosis and treatment purposes. Also, 82.9% (n=207) reported not taking any formal courses on AI, which again emphasizes a learning gap. Results suggest better training of AI within the medical education framework to prepare healthcare professionals to face imminent trends.

人工智能(AI)正在彻底改变医疗保健行业。然而,医学从业者对人工智能的了解严重不足。因此,评估250名医科学生、医生和印度医学协会(IMA)成员对人工智能的知识、意识、经验和看法具有重要意义。基于问卷的调查显示,尽管参与者对人工智能的一般概念有充分了解,但不到一半的人认为它对诊断和治疗有帮助。此外,82.9%(n=207)的人表示没有参加过任何关于人工智能的正规课程,这再次凸显了学习差距。结果表明,需要在医学教育框架内加强人工智能培训,以使医疗保健专业人员做好准备应对即将到来的趋势。
